Flaxseed oil based dietary supplements

Purpose:

Supplements are intended for direct intake with food or for introduction into food products in order to enrich the human diet with omega-3 PUFA and other natural useful components. Dietary supplements are biologically active food supplements used to maintain the functional activity of the body within the physiological limits.

Technical characteristics:

Supplements are stabilized solutions of biologically active substances (BAS) in natural linseed oil, made from oil flax seeds by cold pressing, or oil extracts from plant materials. For the production of dietary supplements, biologically active substances from DSM Nutritional Products Europe Ltd., Switzerland are used. Formulations and technologies for obtaining six oxidation-resistant dietary supplements based on linseed oil have been developed:

  • Coenzyme Q10 - linseed oil plus
  • Beta carotene - linseed oil plus
  • Selenium - vitamin E - linseed oil plus
  • Milk thistle oil - linseed oil plus
  • Lutein - linseed oil plus
  • Vitamins D3 and E - linseed oil plus

Supplements are recommended for use by adults and children over 12 years old in order to enrich the body with essential polyunsaturated fatty acids, incl. PUFA omega-3, and biologically active substances (coenzyme Q10, beta-carotene, lutein, vitamin E, vitamin D3, organic selenium). The components of dietary supplements have antioxidant, radioprotective, anticarcinogenic, tonic, geroprotective, immunostimulating and adaptogenic effects.

The use of dietary supplements in the recommended dosage (2 teaspoons or 10 ml per day), depending on the fatty acid composition of flaxseed oil, provides 46-59% of the daily requirement for PUFA and 77-100% of the daily requirement for PUFA omega-3. The daily requirement for biologically active substances used for the enrichment of flaxseed oil is provided by 31–74%.

When the developed dietary supplements are consumed, linseed oil, rich in omega-3 PUFAs and therefore taken as a basis, along with improved absorption and increased bioavailability of vitamins and other biologically active substances, acts synergistically with them in the manifestation of a number of therapeutic and prophylactic properties, due to which the effectiveness of dietary supplements significantly increases ...

The shelf life of new dietary supplements is 12 months, dietary supplements with coenzyme Q10 - 9 months. Compositions of natural antioxidants and fat-soluble derivatives of ascorbic acid were used as stabilizers of dietary supplements.

Competitive advantages:

  • increasing the shelf life of dietary supplements up to 12 months while maintaining nutritional, therapeutic and prophylactic and organoleptic properties;
  • absolute safety of the stabilizers used;
  • optimal price-quality ratio: shelf life is 1.2-1.5 times higher at a price 1.2-1.4 times lower compared to Russian counterparts;
  • significant (2-5 times) reduction in the loss of vitamins, coenzymes and other biologically active compounds of valuable substances during storage in comparison with the best foreign analogues.

Mastering in production:

 A low-tonnage production of dietary supplements based on linseed oil with a capacity of 12,000 kg/year was organized on the basis of LLC "Club "Farm-Eco" (Drogichin, Brest region, Republic of Belarus).
