Excipients:
polyvinylpyrrolidone - 0.66 g
saccharin sodium (E 954) - 0.02 g
Pharmachologic effect:
It has a laxative effect, which is due to the properties of the components that make up it. Polyethylene glycol 4000 is a linear polymer that holds water molecules through hydrogen bonds. Due to this, the osmotic pressure and the volume of intestinal contents increase. Polyethylene glycol 4000 prevents the absorption of water from the stomach and intestines and promotes accelerated evacuation of intestinal contents. Inorganic salts prevent the imbalance of the body's water and electrolyte balance. Due to their high molecular weight, polyethylene glycol 4000 and polyvinylpyrrolidone are not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and are not metabolized
