 Main achievements

Simple and effective methods and technologies of obtaining a number of tetrazole-containing polymers by polymer-analogous transformations of polyacrylonitrile together with prof. P.N. Gaponik have been developed. The industrial production of these tetrazole-containing polymers was created.

Studies of the kinetics and mechanism of thermal decomposition of tetrazole and a number of its derivatives have been studied. Wide range of polyvinyltetrazoles with substituents of various nature in the cycle have been created. A new generation of components and formulations of compositions for energy devices used in special technology have been developed together with Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus A.I. Lesnikovich. 

A new type of combustion, called liquid-flame combustion, has been discovered and investigated.

A new semiempirical exchange-correlation functional of electron density has been developed, intended for studying the structure and properties of small clusters of transition metals. It was used for the first time to reliably identify the spatial structure of a number of anionic clusters of silver, copper and binary silver-copper clusters.

In recent years, under the leadership of O.A. Ivashkevich carried out a series of studies aimed at developing synthesis methods, studying the structure, physicochemical properties and biological activity of complex compounds of biogenic metals with nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ligands and identified a number of compounds with high antitumor activity in combination with relatively low toxicity.

O.A. Ivashkevich is the author of about 500 scientific papers, as well as 49 copyright certificates and patents, textbooks "Applied Quantum Chemistry" and "Structure of Matter" with the stamp of the Ministry of Education for chemical specialties of universities of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the monograph "New compounds and materials based on micro- and nanoscale particles: production, properties, application ”(based on the materials of the cycle of works awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology in 2013). Prepared 2 doctors and 5 candidates of chemical sciences.
